Dr. Lisa Johnson is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and nationally recognized specialist in both Orthopedic Physical Therapy and Women’s Health Physical Therapy, holding dual board certifications through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). With more than 25 years of clinical experience, she specializes in the hands-on treatment of orthopedic injuries, pelvic floor dysfunction, chronic pain, and women’s and men’s pelvic health conditions.

Dr. Johnson earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University, followed by a Master of Science from Touro College and a Post-Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Stony Brook University. She previously served on the Specialization Academy of Content Experts and the Women’s Health Specialty Council for the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, contributing to the advancement of pelvic health specialization within the profession. In addition to her board certifications, she is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a certified Pilates instructor, allowing her to integrate rehabilitation, strength training, and movement-based exercise into her treatment approach.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Johnson founded Body In Balance Physical Therapy, a private practice specializing in orthopedic, sports, and pelvic health rehabilitation, where she practiced for more than a decade. During this time, she treated a wide range of patients—from high school and collegiate athletes to professional performers, including members of Broadway productions such as The Lion King, Footloose, and Swing. After relocating to Sarasota, Florida, Dr. Johnson founded Total Body Physical Therapy, a boutique-style practice known for its one-on-one, manual therapy–based approach to treating complex musculoskeletal and pelvic floor conditions.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Johnson served on the faculty at Stony Brook University for sixteen years, teaching in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. She later became the Coordinator of Women’s Health Services at Southampton Hospital in New York, where she developed a comprehensive pelvic floor rehabilitation program for both men and women. Dr. Johnson has lectured for physicians, medical students, and healthcare professionals on topics including low back pain, pelvic pain, and pelvic floor dysfunction, and has taught continuing education courses for physical therapists.

Now based in New Jersey, Dr. Johnson has launched Lisa Johnson Pelvic & Orthopedic Physical Therapy in Glen Rock, a concierge-style practice dedicated to providing personalized, one-on-one care for orthopedic injuries, pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and women’s health conditions.

Her treatment philosophy centers on treating the whole person, integrating manual therapy, movement science, strength training, and Pilates-based rehabilitation to help patients restore function, reduce pain, and return to the activities they love.
